Hypnosis for Depression
Depression is usually a reaction to some kind of loss or series of losses such as bereavement, separation, a break-up, a set back, failure, loss of opportunity, or even loss of hope. Sometimes such losses happen suddenly, but they are equally likely to creep up on us slowly, such as the loss of youth and looks, and opportunity.
The sufferer is sometimes unaware of the reasons for depression or even unaware of what is really causing problems deep down.
Sometimes depression is a natural, instinctive period of mourning. This 'comfort zone' of inactivity can seem far preferable to the world of action. Things may seem pointless or hopeless, and in deeper depression nothing seems interesting or inspiring. Sometimes even the gratification of basic animal functions such as desire for food can be affected!
Imagine life as a game of tug-of-war, where two teams try to pull the rope over a white line. Let’s say the game represents your life - a reflection of your life's own progress of ups and downs, setbacks versus achievements. When you are winning it feels great! When things go the other way, those opposite forces will keep pulling the rope away from you and it can be very easy to give in to it if your inner thoughts start telling you that you cannot win. It may get so bad that you just want to let go of the rope, leave the field and take no active part for a while. You just want to sit on the grass and recoup, maybe watch the others or, more likely, take no interest in your own life at all.
This, sadly, is a fairly common issue. The good news is that through hypnotherapy, the thoughts and beliefs which either cause the depression or allow it to take hold, can be looked at for what they are and altered to more beneficial thoughts and beliefs. Those thoughts which do not serve you, those beliefs which hinder you can be overwritten. Your mind can be gently helped to come to terms with your own personal issues, and can be coaxed into releasing all the negative feelings, thoughts and emotions.
Through hypnotherapy we can return your state of mind to feelings of well being, contentment and enthusiasm – these feelings are still there, deep down, and we will bring these emotions back to your current state of being. In fact it is possible that you will end up feeling more joyous, more relaxed, happier and better than ever before. Once you release all of the negativity your depression will melt away. I have seen dramatic transformations take place after just one session of hypnotherapy on several occasions. Remember, if the mind can get you into this situation, then it can most certainly get you out again!

Depression is, quite simply, thinking that is not in line with who you really are and want to be. It begins with incorrect thinking and therefore can be ended with correct thinking. Hypnosis is the simple way to make this positive change and improve your life dramatically.
