Be Amazed By The Benefits Of HypnoBirthing
Will it guarantee a pain-free birth?
This is the key question we all want to ask but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut answer! Although severe pain does not need to be part of labour, it also fair to point out that a totally pain-free labour cannot be guaranteed. Between 65% and 70% of moms using hypnobirthing techniques need no pain relief and that around half of these experience no pain, just pressure. A further 20-25% need a mild form of pain relief such as gas and air, with the remaining 5-10% needing special intervention for a variety of reasons.
How do I prepare?
As with other prenatal classes, you will learn about anatomical and physiological issues but you will also be taught other essential things such as:
Breathing techniques (that don't involve panting, which can cause hyperventilating!)
How to get rid of any fears you may have about childbirth, regardless of what caused them
How to stay calm, focused and relaxed no matter what else is happening around you.
To sum it up...
You will leave the sessions feeling better than when you arrived.
So many prenatal classes that talk about what to expect, and what can go wrong - but don’t give you any way of doing something about it.
What you’ll learn through HypnoBirthing is how you can have a natural childbirth, without drugs...with dramatically reduced levels of anxiety...and often little or no pain.
What if things don’t go to plan?
Even if you experience complications - perhaps needing to be induced, or even if you need a caesarean - you can still benefit greatly from the techniques...by feeling in control of your birth, being calm and staying centred.
I can’t promise you a ‘perfect’ birth - no one can - but I can promise you a much, much more comfortable and relaxed birth than you would have had otherwise.
These simple techniques do require practice - but the end result is worth it, don’t you think?
Does it matter how many weeks pregnant I am?
Within reason, no. The sooner you start, the more time you have to practice.
And even if you’re late into your pregnancy, I can still help you.
I’ve had mothers who had only a few weeks left ’til the birth, so this is for you, no matter what stage of pregnancy you’re at.
Does HypnoBirthing help the baby too?
Yes. We find that babies born using HypnoBirthing tend to be calmer, feed better, sleep better and experience less trauma.
Wow, that sounds great! Anything else I should know?
There’s lots, but here’s just a few more. With HypnoBirthing you can:
Reduce the length of the first stage of labour by anything from 2 - 4 hours
Lower the chances of a breech birth by learning how to ’turn’ the baby into the correct position using posture and self-hypnosis
Increase your milk flow by using the relaxation techniques you’ll learn, if you’re planning to breastfeed
Dramatically reduce your likelihood of suffering from post-natal depression, because you’ll have had a much calmer and less painful birth
Recover physically from the birth much faster, because you haven’t ’wasted’ energy in the process
Develop the confidence in your own body to aim for a homebirth, if that is an option you want to consider
