Alleviate Phobias with Hypnotherapy
It is estimated that between 10% and 20% of the population have phobias. The most common phobia is fear of public speaking, followed closely by a fear of flying. A lot of fears and phobias are formed at times in our lives when we are particularly open to suggestion, such as during childhood. Some things can seem far more threatening from a child’s point of view. Our subconscious mind deals with this by trying to keep us away from these ‘threats’, to the point where some us literally freeze and cannot do anything whatsoever - such is the immense power of the human mind!
Fortunately, the power of the mind is such that, having created this fear and anxiety linked to whatever situation it may be, you can overwrite that fear with whichever emotion you choose. Rather than being panicked, your pulse racing, palms sweaty and feeling sick when boarding a plane - you can feel calm, comfortable and relaxed. The situation doesn’t change; it is the thought processes and beliefs held in your mind which determine the experience for you.
At face value, phobias appear to be fright, or possibly even extreme panic; but can be far more accurately described as irrational fears. Most people who have a phobia are intellectually aware that the fear they feel does not make rational sense; the person who is afraid of flying knows that the plane is extremely unlikely to crash. Another phobia which defies logic is arachnophobia, the fear of spiders. It does not make any sense that a 175-pound human being is afraid of a spider weighing less than a gram. But it does not have to make sense: phobias are irrational fears.
Hypnotherapy is the key to the shift in just how you experience the world – whether you feel that fear, or whether you do not. There is nothing wrong with you, nor is there anything necessarily wrong with your thinking. However, your thoughts and beliefs around certain situations do not serve you; in fact they hinder you.
Through hypnosis, we can discover the root cause of your irrational fear, whatever it may be, and overwrite the thoughts which do not serve you with ones which do.
Some common phobias which can be cured through hypnosis:
- Achluphobia – fear of darkness
- Acrophobia – fear of heights
- Agoraphobia – fear of open spaces (or fear of leaving home)
- Arachnophobia - fear of spiders
- Aviophobia – fear of flying
- Claustrophobia – fear of closed spaces
- Demophobia – fear of crowed places
- Mysophobia – fear of germs or dirt
- Xenophobia – fear of strangers
Other common phobias are fear of:
- dentists
- needles
- blood
- water
- bridges
- insects
- animals
- public restrooms
No matter what your phobia may be, it is held in your mind. Hypnosis is a quick and effective way of overwriting that phobia or irrational belief with one which serves you.
